Up on Abhishek Ghate's Wall

Since Ghate was too lazy, I had to steal the image from his FB albums.

Ghate is a communication designer, who tinkers with technology and is currently experimenting with pixel art to represent iconic images from cinema.

The poster above is hand-painted by him, with a brand new box of gouache paints that I refused to let anyone touch for 4 years, until now.

And no, Rickshaw is not a Bengali pet-name.

Rickshaw is a new studio in Mumbai, by design happy and solution crazy folks.

Up on Soo Basu's Wall

Soo says,

This was a random collection I kept for the last two years. Most of the images here are postcards that I picked up from different places, some were sent by friends. A few are postcards of films that I specially like. There are drawings by friends, visiting cards, and there's even a list of bus timings on the bottom right. Apart from the bus timings this collection began as essential reminders of things in my life that I did not have with me, but over time also became a collection of images given/sent by old/new friends. This "wall" does not exist anymore and I am just about to begin a new one.

I am an interaction designer and visual storyteller.

Up on Pradeep Soni's Wall

I am "the single child", so the walls have been around me a lot. Always reminding me about my boundaries and seclusion. So the day I realized I had the liberty to morph and mutate them, I just didn't stop.

Since then, I have had inspirations, memories, emotions, reminders,instructions and creations which surround me and walls were no more just the former.

Here are the stories of some of the things "Up on My Wall".

Well i have a mild obsession with maps. Besides being informative, they trigger memories and conversation of adventure, travel and fun. Stuck on "World Map" is a coaster from Cavala. Which me, and a friend picked up from a popular pub at the famous BAGA beach of GOA last year. It has a little fish in the corner which is happy to swim in Arctic ocean.There is another coaster, right on the top from another pub in MUMBAI called TOTO'S Garage Pub. It's a fantastic place with a decorative garage feel to it, but it's getting excessively crowded lately.I still touch base with it when in Mumbai (It's a NID thing). Below that, is a postcard of "Birth of Venus" the famous painting by Botticelli. It's one of my favorites for numerous reasons. Picked it up from Uffizi, and it has switched many walls. Surrounding them are, numerous mad things, like festival posters, characters,project sketches.These, things keep my creative juices flowing.

Up on Yash Mishra's Wall

Jenga Towers,
Borrowed from the colleague, Sharan, from next cubicle, making taller jenga towers is a new obsession of mine. These towers are good to pass-time, help you concentrate, look good and attract quite a lot of curiosity from around. Often, some other people also come and make some structures. Most of the time they fall with minutes of standing, but these structures of mine have survived for more than 48 hrs, intense shaking of the cubicle walls and the gully cricket in the small alleyways between the cubicle (played with a smiley ball ! ). Now we have two packs of Jenga blocks, and I intend to make it reach the ceiling, very soon.

Up on Priyankar Gupta's Wall

A "dinky" spotlight which is a gift from a friend. It acts as night lamp or mood lighting for my room.


The photo below is a HULK toy which is also a gift from friends back in NID and it holds two spears from Nagaland which i got from my visit to the northeast. The Toy is too big to be kept in shelves so thats why it has got a place up on the wall.

Our Walls contain us for a large part of the day—The walls in our homes, our work-places and our private sanctuaries.

The 'Up on My Wall' Project captures the things that we choose to surround ourselves with during the day and through the night.
